Wood fencing.

Warm, natural, and endlessly customizable—cedar and pressure-treated wood fencing, professionally built for GTA yards.

Wood fencing

The classic fence, done right.

Cedar wood privacy fence installed in a GTA backyard

Wood is the most popular fence material for a reason: it's warm, natural, and works with almost any home. We build in western red cedar and pressure-treated spruce, with the post depth and hardware to keep it standing straight through Ontario winters.

The cedar-versus-pressure-treated question comes up on nearly every quote. Cedar contains natural oils that resist rot and insects without chemical treatment, and it holds a richer grain and colour. Pressure-treated spruce costs noticeably less and lasts nearly as long, but it tends to move more as it dries—which is why board-on-board is worth the upgrade if you're set on pressure-treated and want no gaps in year two.

Wood also gives you the most style flexibility of any material: height, picket spacing, cap and trim details, and stain colour are all yours to choose. Plan on re-staining every two to three years to keep it sealed and looking its best. That's the real trade-off against vinyl, and we'll be straight with you about it before you buy.

Styles & options

A few of the ways we build wood fencing—tell us your look and we'll tailor it.

Board-on-board

Overlapping boards for full privacy with no gaps, even after the wood shrinks in its first summer.

Good-neighbour

Boards alternate face to face, so it looks finished from both yards. The usual choice for a shared property line.

Horizontal

Modern horizontal boards. Needs closer post spacing than a vertical fence to stop long boards from sagging.

Lattice-top

A privacy panel with an open lattice top—useful where a bylaw caps solid height but allows open construction above it.

Questions

Wood fencing FAQs.

Cedar is naturally rot- and insect-resistant with a richer grain and colour; pressure-treated spruce is more budget-friendly and very durable. We'll help you weigh the two for your project.

A stain or seal every few years keeps it looking its best and extends its life. We'll recommend a schedule for your fence.

Not when it's built right. Proper post depth, spacing, and quality lumber prevent the warping and heaving you see on cheaply-built fences.
